However I feel the documentaion of this product should provide some indformation of the user access accounts and internal workings of the msde installation that comes with .net visual studio. It was while having problems trying to make a .net connection to msde. Hello, I would like to register the MSDE.BIZ query program, this is a great product which helps me just to run a few quick statement while performing development works. However, I do have one suggestion, is the ability to create smaller icons, or customize icon. Some of the functions that may be added are are the ability to store procedures. One last comment, is it possible I can get rid of the WWW.MSDE.BIZ from the background? I think the MSDE.BIZ in the title bar is ok, but a little bit too much for the background. Thanks. I'm a network admin but I've recently had to get into coding to design a website with ASP and I am using MSDE as the database backend. I only really needed something to create the initial tables, insert some initial data, and occasionally view the contents. This tool not only gives you insight to the information but it provides you with the ability to test your SQL statements and see the results. The results are well organized and customizable. I've found MSDE Query while searching on the Internet for a simple yet powerful front end for MSDE. At first, I was sceptical that such a small piece of software could be usefull, but after using it for more than 1 month now, I find it a necessary tool for everyday use while developing a distributed application based on the MSDE engine. It's power lays in its simplicity, so keep on the good work. The only thing I miss is a feature to generate a script for populating tables based on the current contents of the database, and I hope the author(s) will have enough understanding to implement such usefull feature. I use SQL Query Analyzer at work against a SQL 2000 database. Using this application is just as easy as Query Analyzer, in fact, I like the interface better!!! My company uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to connect to an Oracle database. Our users connect to the SQL Server using Microsoft Access 2000 And XP. This nifty little utility (260kb download) effectively replaces the SQL Query analyser for your MSDE. For free. What more could you want? One suggestion would be to make an easy export/save of the query results without needing to rerun the query in "text" format, but the error reporting more than makes up for it, giving you as much information as you would get running the command-line OSQL command. My development task was to create a small scale, distributed, database driven application on a very limited budget. The most viable and affordable option was to use MSDE for the application back-end. I originally thought I would be somewhat hampered in the development process, because of MSDE's limited functionality compared to the full MS SQL Server addition. I had started using msde as I began an ASP.Net Project. The nature of the project required a lot of database updates. With MSDE Query I was able to execute multiple queries at once, with a split grid to review the changes across multiple tables. Also allowing me to easily save my script files. MSDE Query 2000 is an absolute must have for anyone constructing SQL queries. This program lets you check your work more thoroughly than by trial and error. I am learning SQL and have tried several differed distributions of SQL, and MSSQL Server was by far the easiest to install. The problem lies in that I could find NO program that allowed me a command prompt type environment, such as you may experience in MySQL. It's hard for us beginners to know what resources to use. MSDE Query has allowed me that "command line feel" that is NECESSARY for beginners to learn the commands and syntax that go on behind the scenes. MSDE Query is a professionally written program and unexpectedly it is free. The user interface is simple to use and intuitive. If you do not know the tables within your database, I am finding it difficult to get a simple query at this point to find the tables (for example, SELECT * FROM * is not working). It works much like SQL Server's query manager, allowing you to select the database and then execute queries against the database. It has an MDI interface so each query can be in its own window. The program reports results either as text, the default, or into a grid. I was able to do all I needed and more and found it easier to use than OSQL.exe, which is what I was relying on before that. Overall, I would say this is a fully functional replacement for SQL Server's query manager. The same company also has a program similar to Enterprise Manager at minimal cost that would worth checking out if you need such a tool. Thanks! Mark Michaelis

I installed MSDE 2000 Release A a couple of days back and ve had a toughtime creating databases and running queries. This tool has been so helpful in my understanding of SQL. I have used it to connect to a SQL server database. It is particularly helpful for me because I didn't have to read any instructions in order to gain connectivity to the database.
